 The Lincoln Assassination
President Abraham Lincoln went to a play at Ford's Theater on the evening of April 14, 1865 feeling hopeful about the nation's future. After all, Confederates under Robert E. Lee had just surrendered, and the Civil War was all but over. But during the play, John Wilkes Booth shot Lincoln in hopes of avenging the South, and Lincoln's hopes for a peaceful reconstruction died with him. This is an encore of a program originally presented in 2015.
